DIY Clothesline

This super simple DIY clothesline is our newest playroom staple! Use clothes pins to hang a variety of different items, such as felt shapes, baby socks, and the 'Christmas Light' clothes pins we found at our local Dollarama.

Materials:

  • wood dowels, 2

  • piece of scrap wood; I used a leftover piece of baseboard

  • drill & bit

  • hot glue gun & glue

  • string or yarn

  • measuring tape/ruler & pencil

How To:

1. Mark 1" on both top sides of the wood and drill a hole. Be sure not to drill all the way through!

2. Check that your dowels fit snuggly in the holes. Fill with glue and insert dowels. Let cool.

3. Attach your yarn or string! You can make a criss-cross pattern like I did, or one simple & straight across line.

Tie or glue on, whichever your preference. I did a bit of both to ensure the string wouldn't come off or slide around.

4. PLAY! All clothesline activities are so great for fine motor work. Watch your littles concentrate and really use those small hand muscles & hand-eye coordination to squeeze the clothespin and attach the items.

Happy playing & hanging!
