Frozen Penguin Rescue
Penguin obsession in our house lately! Books, activities, songs, TV shows... you name it. So, naturally, I created this frozen play activity to keep our littles busy while I work!
Frozen layers of water, coloured water, shaving cream, and loose parts created the perfect frosty invitation to play.
Pair with a container of warm water with droppers & scoops, and you've got a great fine-motor activity.
Watch the ice melt, layer by layer, to rescue the penguins and find all the neat treasures along the way!
Materials:
glass casserole dish
water / warm water
blue food colouring
shaving cream
bowl
scoops & spoons & droppers
craft snowflakes & gems, twigs, penguin figurines
a tray or something to hold all the pieces while they play
In This Activity
Spark Conversation — chat about penguins & penguin types, their habitats, diet, predators, etc.
Fine Motor Work & Concentration — manipulating these small pieces are great for those little hands & muscles, as well as scooping & pouring.
Sensory — ice, water, shaving cream; so many textures & even temperatures, as everything melts.
Happy playing!
